Happy Birthday is copyrighted

Do you know that the song "Happy Birthday to You" is copyrighted since the year of 2000? In other words, you have already violated the law if you sing the song in a public area, such as restaurants. If you have paid closer attention, you may realize that all the restaurants have their own version of Happy Birthday song since the past few years. Some of the lyrics and the melody of the song have been changed. It's not a cause of creativity, but an enforcement of the laws.

According to the US copyright laws, you're still okay to sing it to your family at home, but not to a public crowd in an open area unless you have purchased a license to do so.
