My new way to lose weights

It's been like 21 days that I had tried to get my butt to the clubhouse and lost some weights in the gym. Every morning I would wake up and realized it took a whole lot of effort to get to the clubhouse, though it only took me less than 5 minutes to get downstair by the elevator. Afterall, I just have a lazy ass.

One day, one of my friends rang me and told me about her visit to the temple where her mom stayed. About a year ago, her mom had decided to become a Buddhist nun and chosen to live a simple life in the temple. These monks had built a temple on top of a moutain with no access of public or private transit. I guess they just wanted to live their own lives, separated from the rest of the world. I realized it could be a good exercise to walk thousands of stairs up to the mountain, and so, I invited myself to go with my friend.

This was how I got myself to the temple:
30 minutes of underground railway ride --- 45 minutes of bus ride --- 1 hour of walking up to the temple. I almost wanted to give up in the middle of this trip, but of course I couldn't. I had sweated so much that I looked like I just got out from a swimming pool. Anyways, so I finally made it to the temple and my friend's mom had already prepared us some veggies to eat. Since they had to live a simple life, there was nothing fancy in the temple area. They had to grow their own food and wash their clothes by hands. I sat down at this poorly equipped table outside the kitchen area and my friend's mom had taken out two dishes of mixed veggies and two bowls of rice. I thought to myself that my main purpose of this trip was to lose some pounds, I couldn't stuff myself with a bowl of carbohydrate. Before I had even finish this thought, I was told that I was not allowed to waste a tiny bit of food, so I had to finish everything. I stuffed myself while sweating like waterfalls. When I was eating, I realized an ant crawling slowly toward my food on the table. I extended my index finger and went toward the ant. My friend's mom yelled, "no killing of any living thing in the temple." Oops, it's too late. The ant died under my finger.

After lunch, we had a walk around the temple. I had rarely had any visit to a buddhist temple in my life, so many things appeared to be new to me. While we were just walking around, the Abbot of the temple had an interesting conversation with us. He didn't talk much about buddhism, indeed he talked to us like a peer. Later on, we found that it's actually quite difficult to talk to an Abbot as he's meant to be the highest monk in the temple and it's not easy to approach him. I had no idea why he would spend so much time chatting with my friend and I. He even took us inside the temple and showed us the proper way to worship Buddha. He made us followed him to do the kneeling thing. As a Catholic myself, I was a bit hesitated but I realized it was just an act of respect to another religion. It's not like I believe in it at all. After spending about 2 hours in the temple, it's time to head back. We took another route to go down the mountain. At the bottom of the mountain, I looked back and I was amazed of how I had walked from one side of the mountain to another side of it. I felt I had fulfilled a pretty big achievement of the day.

There're always more to come after so much of physical movements, especially to someone lazy as me. That night, I spent an hour on a leg massager to relief the soreness. I also slept for 12 hours that night and woke up with extreme soreness on my thighs.
