Haircuts

I can be stingy on anything, but definitely not my hair. I love salon visits. I do not mind spending half of my day in a salon at all. People who know me know that I am willing to spend money on haircuts. One of reasons is that my hair is pretty difficult to handle. It requires a well trained professional hair stylist to do a good job. The other reason is I look at salon visit as a treatment of relaxation, enjoyment, and satisfaction.

About 5 months ago, I tried to be cheap and I walked into a random salon at the SOHO area in Central. Once I was given a wash of my hair, I could tell the trainee who washed my hair was not qualified and I started to have doubts in regards of how skillful my hair dresser could be. What else could I do? I couldn't walk out at the moment ... And, that was one of the biggest mistakes I had made in my life. My hair came out to be horribly out of expectation. The worst thing was that it was layered so short that nothing could be fixed until it grew back out.

An upscale hair salon always have well trained apprentice to provide an enjoyable wash for their customers. This is definitely one factor to justify how well the salon is.
In the past 6 months, I had spent over HKD 10K (USD of 1500) on my hair. I had tried different things -- perm, color, highlights.

Well, the salon I have been visiting is named Private-i located in IFC at Central. (Thanks for my friend who has referred me there =>) Other than the prestigious treatment it offers, I love the fact that other than my designated hair stylist, it has a specified technician for hair perming and hair coloring. The hair stylist will sit down with the technician and the customer to discuss which colors/styles and how it should be done to match the customer's needs and facial features. The latest one I had gotten 2 weeks ago was a 2 color highlights (burgundy and redish blond) with a base color of brownish purple. I hate things which are too standouts, but this is a subtle combination with a fresh look. I wasn't able to have a much dramatic change of style because of the poor cut I had several months ago (Damn!) as I'm still waiting for it to grow back out. I am very satisfied with the new 2 color highlights.

If I have to say something, the only thing they should improve is their quality of drinks for customers. Their milk tea sucks. Next time, I probably should just ask for a glass of water.
